Certified Athletic Therapists are musculoskeletal experts that specialize in orthopaedic assessment and rehabilitation of all physical injuries. Certified Athletic Therapists provide a unique service specializing in extensive hands-on and manual approaches that are coupled with active and individualized therapeutic return to physical activity.
In Alberta, several insurance companies have already realized the benefits of including Athletic Therapy services. Although the following Insurance Companies accept billing for Athletic Therapy, please contact your insurer prior to receiving services as each policy will vary according to individualized employee benefits packages.

Canadian Athlete Insurance Program (CAIP)
Since 1982, CAIP has become well recognized in providing the most comprehensive insurance protection for sport accidents and ’overuse‘ injuries to Canada’s athletes at all levels while ’in Canada‘ and ’outside of Canada’.
CAIP is available to all Canadian athletes, coaches, managers and officials who are members of a sport organization. A sport organization can be a national or provincial organization, Canadian sport center/institute, sport team, league, club, school, multi-sport organization etc.
Travel medical insurance ends when you return to Canada. In Canada insurance covers you for an accident that occurs In Canada only. The medical and therapy treatment that is
needed for an outside Canada accident doesn’t end when you return home and neither should your insurance coverage.
When you combine both the In Canada and Travel medical insurance policies, the Canadian Athlete Insurance Program(CAIP) will cover you for the medical and therapy treatment
needed when you are in Canada for an accident that occurred outside Canada.
Enrollment can be submitted from an organization or directly from an individual.
